JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kennesaw State baseball (25-23, 15-10 Atlantic Sun Conference) fell 4-2 to Jacksonville (24-25, 17-9 ASUN) in game two Saturday night at John Sessions Stadium.
Jackson Chirello once again led KSU at the plate with his third-straight multi-hit game and 11th of 2024.
Starter
Smith Pinson (2-8) pitched five innings while striking out seven and allowing just five hits.
Isaac Bouton hit a single through the left side in the first inning and reached third. On a 3-2 pitch,
Nick Hassan ripped a double into the right-center gap, sending Bouton home and giving Kennesaw State an early 1-0 lead.
Pinson got off to a hot start on the bump for the Black and Gold, striking out two of the first three Dolphin batters he faced. He collected four of the first six outs via strikeout. Jacksonville took a 2-1 lead in the fourth.
With two outs and a 2-2 count in the sixth,
Donovan Cash sent one back up the middle to score Hassan from second and even the game at two apiece. JU retook the lead in the sixth, 4-2.
The Dolphins held on in the final three innings to get the victory.
