Baseball Drops Road Midweek at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - Kennesaw State (17-14, 7-5 Atlantic Sun) fell to the Georgia Bulldogs (25-8, 5-7 SEC) Tuesday evening at Foley Field, 15-5.

Brayden Eidson recorded three hits and two RBI at the plate including 2.1 innings of work on the mound with a pair of strikeouts. It marked his sixth game this season with at least three hits.

His hit streak now stands at seven games.

Chris Cole posted his best outing of the 2024 season with two hits, three RBI, one run scored and a clutch bases-clearing triple in the third.

The first base hit of the evening came off the bat of Spencer Hanson with two outs in the first, who improved his hit streak to a season-high eight games. It ties the second-best by an Owl in 2024. UGA then took a 5-0 lead.

Cole extended his reached-base mark to 10 consecutive games with a two-out second-inning single to right. He has hit safely in five-straight. With walks from Donovan Cash and Shamaar McDuffie, bases were juiced for the leadoff hitter: Eidson.

The senior from McDonough, Ga. sent a shot into center to score Cash and Cole, putting the Owls on the board, 5-2.
Bases were loaded again in the top of the third for Cole who launched a triple off the right-center wall to even the score at five runs apiece. It secured Cole's first multi-hit game of 2024.
UGA had the bases loaded in the bottom of the third but a swift double play started by Zac Corbin closed out the frame and kept the Bulldogs off the board. Rain started to fall in the bottom of the sixth as UGA added one run to take a 12-5 advantage.

Center fielder Jackson Chirello led off the seventh with his sixth double of the season. It was his second game of 2024 at the eight position. UGA scored two in the bottom of the inning to lead 14-5 and won 15-5 via run rule in the eighth.

Georgia entered Tuesday with an RPI of nine and a 19-1 record in non-conference games.
