KENNESAW, Ga. - A clutch walk-off single from
Zac Corbin lifted Kennesaw State (18-14, 8-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) to a comeback victory in the ninth inning over Central Arkansas (13-19, 4-9 ASUN), 3-2, Friday night inside Stillwell Stadium.
The redshirt junior had two hits and two of the Owls' three RBI including a bases-loaded single into right field in the bottom of the ninth, capping off a two-run final frame to give KSU its 18th win of 2024.
Spencer Hanson evened the game with a momentum-swinging double in the ninth that proved pivotal for the Owl rally.
Bo Rhudy (4-1) pitched a perfect final frame in the top of the ninth and
Nolan Sliver pitched 4.1 innings of relief allowing just one hit.
Kennesaw State baseball has now scored in 168 consecutive home games, the best in the Atlantic Sun by 104 games. KSU has not been shutout at home since Feb. 27, 2018.
The Owl defense stranded eight UCA runners and held the Bears to 2-for-15 with runners on.
Left fielder
Chris Cole continued his hot streak with the first single for KSU Friday night, extending his hit streak (seven games) and reached-base streak (11 games). UCA led 2-0 after the second frame.
In the bottom of the fifth with Cole on first, Corbin mashed a double to left field putting KSU on the board, 2-1.
KSU kept the Bears off the scoreboard for each of the final seven innings.
In the bottom of the ninth,
Nick Hassan led off the frame with a double to left center on a 3-1 pitch. After he advanced to third during
Isaac Bouton's AB, Hanson sent a double of his own to left, evening the game at two.
Bases were loaded for Corbin after walks by
Nate Anderson and Cole, who then sent a 3-2 pitch through the right side to score Hanson and give KSU the walk-off win, 3-2.
