DELAND, Fla. - Kennesaw State (17-13, 7-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) fell in its series finale against the Stetson Hatters (22-10, 9-3 ASUN), 7-2, Sunday afternoon at Melching Field at Conrad Park.
Right fielder
Nick Hassan led the way offensively with three hits and one RBI for the Owls. He was joined in the multi-hit category by
Isaac Bouton and
Spencer Hanson.
Starter
Smith Pinson pitched the first four innings allowing just two hits in his outing.
The Owls snapped Stetson's eight-game win streak Saturday night in game two, where head coach
Ryan Coe recorded his 40th conference win.
After four scoreless frames, the Hatters scored in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 2-0 lead.
Bouton had a sixth-inning single that was followed by Hanson who pushed a single to right center, extending his hitting streak to seven consecutive games.
One at-bat later, Hassan sent one through the right side to score Bouton and put KSU on the board, 2-1. A wild pitch during
Donovan Cash's trip to the plate score Hanson from third and evened the game at two. Stetson broke the tie, 3-2, in the bottom of the inning.
In the eighth inning, Hassan tallied his fifth game this season with at least three hits. The home team extended its lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the eighth.
The Hatters prevented an Owl rally in the ninth to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- Bouton has reached base in each of the last five games and tallied his 11th multi-hit game.
