KENNESAW, Ga. – Georgia State's (10-24) consistent run production was too much for the Owls (10-26) Wednesday night at Bailey Park with a 6-2 final in the Panther's favor.
The action started early with GSU drawing first blood with a run scored in the first inning.
After going down one-two-three in the first, KSU gathered an answer in the second saga. Catcher
Macie Howes singled through the middle to bring
Kiera Cooper around to score for a 1-1 tally with two innings completed.
The Panthers tacked on two more in the third via two singles to go up 3-1.
The Owls then brought it to within one run in the fourth with a
Stella Henry RBI single to right field, bringing Howes around for the second run of the day for KSU. It marked the final score for Kennesaw State.
GSU compiled three more runs before the seventh earning a 6-2 final.
It was a brand-new batting order for the Owls with Henry going from leadoff to the seven spot,
Madison Miller leading off and
Reese Evans at the two spot. There were also switches in the field with Evans going back to third base and Shumeyko moving to second base for the first time this year.
