ASUN Excellence
In their 16-year stint in the Atlantic Sun, Kennesaw State has been nothing short of spectacular. The record sits at 275-145 marking a 65.5 winning percentage with a ASUN Tournament championship in 2018.
Series History
The tradition is rich between the Owls and the Hatters with KSU holding a 29-17 all time advantage dating back to 2006. Currently riding a four game winning streak, the Owls aspire to add onto an already impressive 13-5 home record versus the Hatters.
Hazardous Innings
They say hitting is contagious and for the Owls, that saying reigns true. On three separate occasions, they have registered five or more runs in a single inning. The first onslaught was against Robert Morris with an eight-run inning, the highest total of the season. That was followed by a six run first inning versus Bethune-Cookman and capped off with a five run inning over the Mercer Bears.
Slugfest
The last three games have been chalked full of power from the Owl bats. Since the second game versus South Dakota State, they have complied a .438 slugging percentage which is .140 points better than the current team average. Leading the way is third baseman
Reese Evans with a 1.000 slugging percentage totaling eight bases with four hits, two of which were for extra bases.
Non-Con Juggernauts
As of March 14, The Black and Gold faced two ranked opponents and are slated to face at least one more. The first juggernaut was #2 Tennessee at Bailey Park in the home opener. The next was #22 South Carolina at the UCF Tournament. Last will be #6 Georgia Bulldogs March 27. All three teams reached the NCAA regionals in '23. The Owls also faced three other regional teams in Texas State, Ole Miss and UCF. Nearly half of the Owls defeats this year have come to Power Five opponents.
Balanced Staff
Last season,
Kenley Hilleary and
Melanie Bennett accounted for 81% of the team's inning pitched. This season, those two have totaled for only 50% of the team's innings with
Lindsey Kyte,
Leah Jannakos and
Emma Friedel accounting for the other half. All five pitchers have recorded at least two starts with four pitchers having four or more. They have all also scavenged a minimum of 14 innings pitched.
On Deck
The Owls will finalize a eight game home stand with Tennessee Tech Wednesday March 20 at Bailey Park.
