KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse, off to its best start in school history, swept this week's Atlantic Sun weekly honors as
Hannah Barth was named Player of the Week, while
Lauren Dobbs was named the Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. This is the first weekly honor of their career for both players, and they are the first Owls to be recognized this season.
Barth, a senior midfielder from Herndon, Va., paced the Owls to a 2-0 week with a school-record 28-17 victory over Presbyterian on Feb. 21, followed by a 15-11 road win at Longwood on Feb. 24. She led KSU with 12 total points off seven goals and five assists, including a career-high tying five in the win at Longwood. In the victory over the Lancers, she posted a hat trick in the first quarter to give KSU an early lead, and after the score was tied in the fourth, she posted a goal and an assist to spark a 3-0 run that sealed the victory.
Dobbs, a sophomore midfielder from Dacula, Ga., was huge in the draw circle for KSU, grabbing a team-high 15 draw controls for the week. She also added two ground balls and a caused turnover.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are back at Fifth Third Stadium to face the Mercer Bears on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 4 pm.
