CLEMSON, S.C. –Kennesaw State baseball dropped the series finale to No. 10 Clemson by a score of 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Owls are back in action Tuesday night with a midweek contest at former ASUN Conference rival, Jacksonville State.
Smith Pinson got the start on the mound and threw the first 2.1 innings. The right-hander struck out three and allowed three runs, with only one being earned.
Nolan Sliver entered first out of the bullpen and tossed 1.2 innings of relief. The sophomore allowed one unearned run on two hits with a strikeout during his third appearance of the year.
Hudson Mimbs was second in relief and threw 1.2 innings. He allowed three hits and two earned runs.
Bo Rhudy made his second appearance of the season and worked 1.1 frames. The freshman allowed zero runs and zero hits with one strikeout.
Daniel Powell threw the ninth and worked a clean frame. The freshman right-hander allowed zero runs on one hit.
Offensively, KSU was limited to six hits. Brayden Eidson, Isaac Bouton, Spencer Hanson, Jamarie Brooks, Aaron Posey and Chris Cole all connected for a base knock. Eidson recorded a double in the eighth for the Owls only extra-base hit of the afternoon.
Clemson scored two runs in the first on four base hits and two KSU errors. The Tigers added another run in the third courtesy of a bases-loaded walk.
Clemson increased its lead to 4-0 with two singles and a hit by pitch in the bottom of the fourth. They broke the game open with three in the sixth to increase the advantage to 7-0.
The Owls scored two runs in the ninth courtesy of a Clemson error and RBI single from Cole.
Kennesaw State baseball is back on the road Tuesday, Feb. 27 for a midweek contest against Jacksonville State. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at Rudy Abbott Field and will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
