Guzowski's Walk-Off Hit Snaps Owls Skid

KENNESAW, Ga. – Ava Guzowski's walk-off RBI single snapped the Owls (3-11) losing streak in dramatic fashion as they took down the Army Black Knights (1-13) in game two Saturday night.

Kennesaw State split the double header on day two of the I-75 series but got the last laugh ending a ten-game losing skid with a 3-2 victory.

Game One (L, 6-4)
The second inning was a breakthrough offensively as they ripped the lead away scoring four runs. The first run for the Owls came across with Caroline Shumeyko grounding out to first base unassisted but scoring Macie Howes from third. It was followed briefly by Kiera Cooper scoring on a passed ball and a Madison Miller RBI single scoring Reese Evans to tie the game at 3-3. To take the lead, Ava Guzowski singled to score Stella Henry putting the Owls up by one.

KSU's defense stepped up big with a heads-up defensive play ending the third inning with a liner to Guzowski who flipped it over to Evans to tag up the runner at second for the double play.

In the top of the fifth, Kassidy Amerson Fox gunned down an Army player at the plate to maintain the lead. It marked her fourth outfield assist of the season already.

The lead was short lived as the Black Knights tallied two more in the sixth inning taking down the Owls with a 6-4 final.

Spotlight Performances
Guzowski and Miller both collected one hit and one RBI each along with a Guzowski walk

Game Two (W, 3-2)
The Owls snapped a ten-game losing skid with a walk-off single from Ava Guzowski in the bottom of the seventh inning.

It began as a pitchers dual with both sides scoreless until the 5th inning.

The Black Knights were able to manufacture two runs at the top of the fifth, but the Owls came back with an answer. With a high bouncer hit too the shortstop, the ball rocketed off the fielder's shin scoring two Owl runs to even it up at 2-2.

The winning play all started with Reese Evans legging out an infield single with one out, placing the ball right between the circle and the third baseman. That was followed by a Stella Henry single through the right side and another infield single from Madison Miller. Guzowski then swung at the first pitch and chopped it over the third baseman's head into left field to score Evans to win the game.

Spotlight Performances
Guzowski collected her second hit of the game and her first career walk-off

In the top of the second, Howes nabbed her first runner caught stealing of her Owl career. She also recorded a hit in three at-bats

Madison Miller slashed two base hits in four at-bats
