Kelly Leads Owls With One-Under Score

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Kennesaw State women's golf ended the first day tied for ninth in the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz. Friday evening.
 
The Owls finished 11-over 299 as a team after the first 18 holes and are currently tied with Akron. The field is tight with just four strokes separating the ninth spot and the fifth spot.
 
The tip of the spear for the Owls was Nyah Kelly as the sophomore finished with a one-under 71. Her score is tied for eighth and only four strokes from the lowest score of the day. Kelly eagled hole six with just three strokes.
 
The second-best score for the Owls was Bella Kil who shot a three-over 75 including a birdie down the stretch on hole 17.
 
Cameron Neilson fared well in her season debut scoring a four-over 75 racking up five birdies on the day.
 
The reigning ASUN Player of the Week, Lara Jecnik finished with a five-over 77 and Sabrina Kim shot an 81 earning two birdies.
