KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State (2-10) drops the first two games versus Ball State (5-7) in the I-75 Challenge Friday night.
Game One (L,9-0)
Spotlight Performances
The Owls threatened in the bottom of the second with a one out
Macie Howes double that went over the center fielder's head.
Freshmen
Abby Hammett and
Reese Evans both collected a base knock with Hammett getting back-to-back starts for the first time since the Texas State Tournament.
Game Two (L,7-4)
KSU was able to manufacture a run in the second inning with
Peri Rouillard recording her second RBI of the season, scoring
Kassidy Amerson-Fox from third.
They were able to tally two runs in the sixth by taking advantage of the miscue from Ball State's shortstop; scoring Henry and Cooper to bring it within three.
With one out left in the game, The Owls were able to bring the tying run to the plate with the bases loaded but a fielder choice and a liner to shortstop ended the comeback attempt.
Spotlight Performances
Amerson-Fox walked twice along with a run scored with
Stella Henry collecting a hit and a RBI.
Kiera Cooper stepped up pinch hitting as she smacked a double down the left field line to break up the no-hitter in the sixth inning.
Next Up
It's a quick turnaround in the I-75 Challenge as the Owls face Army starting at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
