KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball enters the toughest stretch of the season, as the Owls will finish the regular season with three straight road games, starting with this week's trip to the Sunshine State to face FGCU and Stetson. First up will be a contest against the FGCU Eagles in Fort Myers in a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday in a game streamed live on ESPN+.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Owls will be looking for a repeat of a year ago, when KSU pulled off a two-game sweep on the road at FGCU and Stetson. The two teams have been strong on their home courts this year though, with a combined 18-4 record.
♦ The series has been in the Owls favor as of late, as KSU has won four of the last five meetings. KSU is looking for its third straight win in the series, which would be its longest win streak over FGCU since the 2010-11 season.
♦ Thursday's game is big for both teams in their bid to claim a berth in the Atlantic Sun Tournament. Both teams currently have five wins on the season, while KSU won the first meeting this season in Kennesaw on a last second three-pointer. A win for the Owls would give them the crucial tiebreaker in case of a tie in the standings. The top 10 teams will earn spots in this year's tournament, which starts on March 4 with the first-round games.
♦ Under first-year head coach
Antoine Pettway, the Owls are playing at the fourth-fastest pace in the nation (according to KenPom). In addition, KSU also ranks sixth in the NCAA in fastbreak points (16.1 ppg), 10th in three-point field goal attempts per game (29.1) and 16th in scoring per game (83.5 ppg). Senior guard
Terrell Burden meanwhile is 15th in the nation in assists per game (6.3).
