Prencis Harden recorded her Atlantic Sun Conference-leading seventh double-double of the season as Kennesaw State (8-13, 4-4 Atlantic Sun Conference) fell short to Austin Peay (10-12, 3-5 ASUN), 61-50, Thursday inside the KSU Convocation Center.
The junior notched her 15th double-digit scoring game of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. It marked her 13th game in double figures in the last 14.
She now has four 20-point games this season and five in her career.
Freshman
Trynce Taylor joined Harden with 13 points Thursday in addition to five rebounds.
Kyndall Golden collected two blocks against the Governors, adding to her ASUN-leading season total of 36.
Laura Toffali scored the opening points for Kennesaw State on a fast break and was followed by a three-point play from
Keyarah Berry.
Toffali struck again moments later with her team-leading 14th trey of the season. KSU entered Thursday leading the ASUN in three-point percentage in conference games (32.3%).
Those plays attributed to a 13-0 run after the Govs scored the first nine points of the contest.
Toffali and Harden led KSU with five points apiece in the first as both teams evened-up at 15 after the opening 10.
KSU held Austin Peay to 0-for-3 from the arc in the period. Five different Owls tallied multiple rebounds.
Taylor came out swinging in the second and scored the first four points for the Black and Gold.
Austin Peay went on a 6-0 run and retook the lead until a jumper from Taylor put KSU back in front with under 2:30 left, 28-27.
Harden notched 10 points in the second quarter for her 15th double-digit-scoring game of 2023-24.
The two squads exchanged field goals and went into the half even at 31. KSU shot 58.3% in the quarter.
Carly Hooks broke up a quarter-opening 6-0 run from the Governors in the third for KSU's first points of the second half.
Austin Peay led 44-38 after the third.
Harden collected her 17th point of the contest to open the fourth for Kennesaw State.
She reached 20 points toward the end of the period, her fourth of the season and fifth of her Owl career.
KSU held Austin Peay to 2-for-10 from three Thursday but Governors held on to take the 61-50 victory.
The Black and Gold return to the court for Lights Out Day Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2:00 p.m. against the Lipscomb Bisons. Free 'Lights Out' t-shirts will be given out at the gate, while supplies last.
