Owls Announce Six Signees for 2024 Season

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State Volleyball will be adding six new players that have signed to join the Owls for the 2024 season, head coach Keith Schunzel announced on Thursday. The signing class includes: Ashlyn Anderson, Ava Garner, Kiernan Stamey, Kaeley Walz, Avalynn Holtz and Caroline Chastang.
 
"I couldn't be more excited about this group of student-athletes and all the qualities they'll bring into the program, both on and off the court." said Schunzel. " We've added size, athleticism, ball handling, setting, heavy attacking arms and a bunch of players who can really play the game."
 
Anderson, a 6-3 native from Fleming Island, Fla., is a right-side hitter for The Bolles School and Jacksonville Skyline Junior Volleyball Club. She is ranked sixth in the state of Florida for kills and has an impressive mark of 1000+ kills in her high school career. Anderson ranked 16th overall out of the 2024 class in the state of Florida by Prepdig and third for right-side hitters.
 
Garner is a 6-0 middle blocker from nearby Acworth, Ga., and played for North Cobb Christian High. Garner averaged over 500+ kills and was 1st team All Region for the 2022 and 2023 season.
 
Stamey, a 6-0 outside hitter from Louisville, Tenn, and Maryville High School. She has collected a variety of accolades including two-time all-district, district hitter of the year as a junior and district MVP her senior year. Also as a senior, she cleaned up both district and regional tournament MVPs after leading the Rebels to both tournament titles. Over her career, she collected 1,400+ kills.
 
Walz, a 5-11 native of Louisville, Ky., finished a strong career after receiving all-state honorable mention for the 2023 season, collecting 1,000 assists and 400+ digs. She was a key player in leading Sacred Heart Academy to the 2023 district championship. Walz also plays for the KIVA Junior Volleyball Club.

Holtz, a 5-8 right handed outside/defensive specialist from La Porte, Ind., plays on the LaPorte high school team and for the KeAloha Volleyball club. In her 2023 high school season, Holtz finished with 338 kills, 222 digs and led the team in aces with 106. Co-captain as a senior, she earned DAC Conference MVP honors while also picking up all-district, all-state second team, all-area first team and Post Tribune Player of the Year accolades.
 
A transfer from Mississippi College, Chastang is a 5-10 outside hitter and picked up numerous awards for the Choctaws. A two-time All-Gulf South Conference honoree, this past season she paced the team in digs (318), and was second in both kills (320) and points (368.5). A native of Bay Minette, Ala., she played for Bayside Academy where she earned Female Athlete of the Year accolades and was also a two-time all-state tournament team member. She is the sister for former KSU standout Lauren (2017-21).
