KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball continues its run of games away from its home court with Friday's contest against Georgia State. The two teams will tip off at 7 p.m. in the GSU Convocation Center, and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Owls are playing their first game back in the United States after playing in one of the top mid-major MTEs in the nation during Thanksgiving Week in Canada. During their five days in the Great White North, the Owls faced three teams in the top 26 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Poll, and came away with a 1-2 record, highlighted by a 67-63 overtime victory over CAA preseason favorite Towson.
♦ This is the second game between the Metro Atlanta rivals in the past two years. KSU won last year's anticipated game 88-77 on Dec. 2 in the KSU Convocation Center, in the first meeting between the two teams since 1989. The Owls are now looking for its first-ever win on the Panthers' home court after losing its first three meetings while the Owls were still a NAIA program.
♦ In last year's game, the Owls used a back-breaking 17-0 run in the first half and never looked back, while Simeon Cottle scored a then career-high 27 points in the victory.
♦ A huge difference for Kennesaw State this year is its work on the defensive side. A year ago, the Owls ranked 186th in field goal percentage defense at 186th and 263rd in three-point percentage defense. After the first nine games in 2024-25, KSU has made a complete turnaround, ranking 32nd in the nation in field goal defense at 38.1%, which is also tops in Conference USA. KSU is also fifth in the NCAA in three-point field goal defense, allowing its opponents to hit just 24.9% of its attempts from three-point range.
