KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball is ready for another tough challenge, as the Owls will play in a Thanksgiving week tournament with perhaps the best field of mid-major teams in the nation in the Western Slam which runs from Thursday-Saturday. Three of the four teams in the event are currently ranked in the top 25 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll (No. 3 UC Irvine, No. 21 Towson, No. 25 Kennesaw State) while Kent State is the first team out of the rankings.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Owls are flying in Coach Pettway's second year with the Black and Gold, as they currently rank 12th in the nation in scoring at 91.4 points per game. KSU is also owning the boards, ranking second in rebounds per game (47.4) and seventh in rebound margin (+14.2). From three-point land, KSU is 15th in three-point field goals per game (11.2).
♦ The biggest difference for the Owls this season is their work on the boards. Currently, they rank third in the nation in rebound margin at +15.0, and are second in total rebounds per game with 47.2. A year ago, KSU was 200th in rebound margin (+0.1).
♦ Kennesaw State's 5-1 start to the season is the best in school history. This also marked the third straight year the Owls have begun the season with wins in four of their first five games.
