DALLAS – Kennesaw State football kicker
Austin Welch earned his second Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week honor on Monday after connecting on the game-winning field goal on Saturday against FIU.
The redshirt junior knocked home the 19-yard field goal with just over a minute left in the game to power the Owls to the 27-26 triumph over the Panthers.
In addition to the game-winner, Welch also converted a 36-yard try in the first quarter, while also connecting on all three of his point-after attempts.
Welch has been ultra-dependable for Kennesaw State this season, leading Conference USA with 14 made field goals on the season. His 82.4 percent clip ranks third overall in the league.
Welch and the Owls will wrap up the 2024 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 30 on the road at Louisiana Tech. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the KSU Owl Network.
