KSU Soars Past Erskine, 94-44, Saturday Night

KENNESAW, Ga. - An elite offensive performance featuring three players with 18 points or more propelled Kennesaw State women's basketball to a 50-point rout of Erskine College Saturday, 94-44.

Keyarah Berry notched her third-straight 20-point game and tied her career-best in both points (24) and rebounds (8). Her nine made buckets set a new personal best.

Berry now has 68 points in her last three (22.7 PPG), 79 in her last four (19.8 PPG) and 135 in her last eight (16.9 PPG).

Prencis Harden hung 21 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She is now tied for fifth in KSU DI career history with 13 double-doubles as an Owl. She is tied for fourth among KSU DI forwards.

With the victory, Octavia Blue becomes the fastest KSU women's basketball head coach to 25 DI home wins.

Kailyn Fields set new career highs in points (8) and steals (5). Her five steals led the Owls Saturday.

True freshman Mame Kane also posted a new career-best in points (7).

The Owls' (2-2) 94 points were the fourth-most accrued under Blue. KSU is now 6-1 under Blue when scoring 80-or-more. It was Kennesaw State's first game in program history against the Flying Fleet (1-1).

FIRST HALF
Kennesaw State erupted to a 16-0 lead to open the game with six points apiece from Griffin and Harden. After a small flurry from Erskine, the Owls led 19-10 after one.

KSU remained consistent and opened the second quarter on a 15-0 run. The Owl defense allowed just five second quarter points to roll 40-15 into the half.

Griffin led the Owls with 14 points in the first half. KSU shot 40% from the floor in the first 20.

SECOND HALF
KSU and Erskine exchanged points back-and-forth for the first seven minutes of the third period before the Black and Gold closed out the third with a 10-0 run that featured six points from Berry.

A 14-2 run to open the fourth further widening the gap. The Owls answered every Flying Fleet basket in the final frame aside from the final Erskine jumper. Claire Davis notched her first collegiate points of the season on a trey with 1:47 left in the game. KSU rolled to a 94-44, 50-point, victory.

Berry led the way with 16 second-half points and Harden just behind with 14. Eight of Harden's 11 boards came in the final 20.

STAT OF THE GAME
Kennesaw State owned the paint Saturday, totaling a massive 60 points in the paint.

The Owls also had 28 fourth-quarter points. The final 10 minutes have been a bright spot for the Black and Gold, averaging 19 points in the fourth quarter this season.

Kennesaw State begins a five-game road trek Thursday, Nov. 21 at San Jose State. The Owls return to the Convocation Center on Dec. 19 against Georgia State.
