Cottle, Owls Fly Over Presbyterian 85-67

KENNESAW, Ga. – Simeon Cottle scored 27 points and Kennesaw State flew out to a 22-4 lead out of the gates and never looked back on the way to an 85-67 victory over Presbyterian in men's college basketball action on Saturday afternoon in the Convocation Center. The Owls moved to 3-1 with the victory, while the Blue Hose dropped to 2-3 overall.

STAT OF THE GAME: This game was decided in the first half as the Owls shot 51.9% from the floor (14-of-27) and a sizzling 53.3% (8-of-15) from three-point range. The Blue Hose meanwhile were limited to just 33.3% (9-of-27) from the field, 2-of-8 from behind the arc for 25%. KSU also turned the ball over just four times in the opening 20 minutes while forcing nine by the visitors.

OWL OF THE GAME: Cottle was very efficient on Saturday, as his 27 points came off just seven official field goal attempts. He finished the game 5-of-7 from the floor, 5-of-6 from three-point range, and was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. Cottle also added four assists and two steals in the win.

THE FIRST HALF: KSU started off gifting a point off an administrative technical, which turned out to be the only point allowed by the Owls in the opening 4+ minutes. Cottle started KSU off with a pair of free throws and a trey, while freshmen Braedan Lue and Adrian Wooley followed with three-pointers of their own to make it 11-1 at the first media timeout. Another Cottle trey and a free throw from Jamil Miller made the score 22-4 in favor of the home team with 12:16 on the clock. An 8-0 run, featuring three-pointers from Wooley and Ricardo Wright off the bench, gave KSU its largest lead of the half, 39-14, and they would go into the break leading 46-27.

THE SECOND HALF: The Owls kept up the pressure to start the second half, opening up a 26-point lead twice, the last on a three-pointer from Cottle with 15:58 on the clock that made the score 60-34. The lead never dropped below 16 points the rest of the way as KSU closed out on the home victory.

NOTES 
- Wright scored his career-high as an Owl with 15 points in 22 minutes of action. Wooley was the other player to score in double-figures with 13.
-Lue grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to lead all players. KSU finished with a 37-32 advantage on the boards.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls host Abilene Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in their second game in the CUSA/WAC Challenge. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+.
