LYNCHBURG, Va. – An aggressive Liberty attack took down the Owls Friday night with a 4-0 final at Osborne Stadium, eliminating the Owls from CUSA postseason contention.

Chris Cahill's remarks:
"We knew we had to chase the game before we even kicked-off to make the tournament. An early mistake made us push more players forward and it exposed us to more risk. Unfortunately, Liberty is too good of a team and to their credit, has proven why they are the standard in the conference.
The season ends for us today but the adversity we encountered and the examples every single one of our seniors has left will absolutely help us grow and get better. I can't thank this team enough for giving me their very best this year."
First Half
Within the first minute the Owls were able to manufacture a legitimate chance with a shot from
Macie Rainwater but was saved by the Flames keeper.
Anabel Orozco crossed a ball toward the jabbing foot of Rainwater.
Less than three minutes into the match, Liberty was able to scratch across the first goal nabbing a 1-0 lead. The goal was briefly reviewed but the goal was upheld.
The Owls were able to fight off consistent pressure in the first 15 minutes in KSU's defending third.
After the initial onslaught, KSU was able to weather the storm and battle through the midfield for the duration of the first half. After two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes, KSU only allowed one more during the remaining 35 minutes.
Second Half
In terms of pressure, the tides turned at the start of the second stanza as the Owls were able to posses the ball in their attacking third.
At the 32-minute mark, the Flames scored a miraculous goal form outside of the box, making it a 2-0 lead for Liberty.
Off a rebounded save, the Flames piled on another goal to earn the 3-0 lead.
A penalty shot resulted in the fourth goal for the Flames, marking a final score of 4-0.
