KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second time this season, Kennesaw State guard Terrell Burden was named Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Player of the Week, after leading the Owls to two big home victories in conference play which included a last second buzzer-beating three-pointer in a three-point win over FGCU on Jan. 12. This is the second career weekly honor of his career, and the third for the Owls this season. which ties for the most conference player of the week honors ever in a season for KSU.
Burden, a 5-10 senior from Smyrna, Ga., averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 assists for the week while shooting 73.3% (11-of-15) from the floor, including 57.1% (4-of-7) from three-point range. In the thrilling win over FGCU, after attempting just one shot in the first half he was unstoppable on offense in the second, connecting on all seven of his attempts from the floor. He sparked a 7-0 run to begin the half to put the Owls up by five, and with the score tied in the final 15 seconds, he came up with a steal on FGCU's last possession, went the length of the court to the deep left corner before hitting a drop-step three-pointer that went through the net at the buzzer to keep KSU's perfect record at home alive.
He was also strong in the Owls' 88-70 victory over Stetson on Jan. 10, scoring 13 points and adding 13 points, five assists and two steals despite being limited by foul trouble.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are on the road for the first time in conference play this season with a pair of road games in Jacksonville, Fla., starting with Thursday's 7 p.m. contest at North Florida. That will be followed by a Saturday, 3 pm game at Jacksonville.
