KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Terrell Burden is up for his first-ever national honor, as the Owls' point guard was named to the 2023-24 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award Mid-Season Watch List, it was announced on Wednesday.

Burden, a senior and native of Smyrna, Ga., is already one of the top guards in school history and is turning in a career-best performance this season. After leading the Owls to their first-ever Atlantic Sun conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022-23, Burden came back for his final year with KSU and is posting career-highs in scoring with 14.9 points per game, which ranks 11th in the Atlantic Sun. The school's all-time assist leader at 470 in his career, this season he's tops in assists in the league at 6.3 per game, which ranks him 11th in the nation. Burden is also one of the top defenders in the conference, posting 1.6 steals per game.

He has scored in double-figures in 11 games this year, and posted five 20+ scoring performances, including a career-high 28 points in his last game when he rallied the Owls from a 13-point deficit for a conference-opening win over Queens on Jan. 6. Burden has claimed ASUN Player of the Week honors once this season, after leading KSU to victories at home over UNC Asheville and one the road at USC Upstate.

Currently, he ranks seventh all-time in career scoring with 1,358, and is also third in steals with 148, and fourth in career games started with 102.

The award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in Division I men's basketball, and honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in his career.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls host Stetson on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest in the Convocation Center.
