9/6/2023 4:24:00 PM

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Kennesaw State Department of Athletics will induct two new teams into its Hall of Fame next month at a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 15 at the Convocation Center on the Kennesaw State campus. The inductees will also be recognized during the Saturday, Sept. 16 KSU football contest against Furman at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

KSUOwls.com is profiling both teams leading up to the ceremony. Today we look back to our three-part feature on the 2003-04 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship team that originally came out in the summer of 2020.

KENNESAW, Ga. – It is just over a week away from the Kennesaw State 2023 Hall of Fame ceremony, and we are profiling both teams that are being inducted into this year's class, with today's feature on the 2003-04 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship team.

The 2003-04 Kennesaw State Owls were coached by the late Tony Ingle, a 2022 Hall of Fame Inductee. After starting the season with two straight losses, the Owls won nine of the next 10 contests. A loss at Lenoir-Rhyne on Jan. 2, 2004, would be the final setback of the season for KSU, as the Owls proceeded on a school-record 26-game win streak, leading them all the way to the national championship title.

In the summer of 2020 during the year of Covid, KSUOwls.com published a three-part feature on the amazing accomplishments of the 2003-04 Owls, and we are happy to share that story with you again.
