KENNESAW, Ga. – Jonathan Murphy,
JeRico Washington Jr. and
Joshua Huiet were selected as Kennesaw State football E.A.T. Players of the Week for their performance in the 38-7 win over Tusculum last Thursday.
Murphy, the team's Offensive Player of the Week, became the fifth 1,000-yard passer in Kennesaw State history. The Los Angeles native ended the evening 12-for-18 with 219 yards. He also broke a school record for consecutive pass attempts without an interception with 94.
The quarterback also led the team in rushing yards as he collected 90 yards on 13 attempts. Murphy dazzled the crowd with an elusive 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Washington Jr., KSU's Defensive Player of the Week, broke onto the scene in his first collegiate game. The defensive back swiped two interceptions and became the first freshman with multiple picks in his debut in program history.
Huiet had an impressive game and earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The junior from Johns Creek, Ga. blasted five punts for 225 yards with two punts landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Huiet had one punt go for 58 yards which is only one shy of his career long.
Kennesaw State football is back in action next Saturday, Sept. 9 against Chattanooga. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on ESPN+. The game will be the first matchup between the Owls and Mocs.
