CONWAY, Ark. – Kennesaw State struggled to gain offensive momentum in their 5-0 road loss to Central Arkansas Sunday at the Bill Stephens Complex.
At the beginning of the contest, the Owls' (1-5-3, 0-2-0 Atlantic Sun Conference) defense was on display. This was exemplified in redshirt-senior
Camryn Simmons deflecting a potential Central Arkansas goal in the 15th minute. However, in the 16th minute, Central Arkansas (3-5-2, 2-0-0) was able to sneak one by Owl goalkeeper
Allanah Blye. Central Arkansas would score a second time in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, the Owls' defense continued to be at the forefront of their performance. In particular, redshirt-freshman
Charlee Bernal was subbed in at the start of the second half and proceeded to record five saves. In the 61st and 83rd minutes, Central Arkansas would their next two goals of the day, increasing their lead to 4-0. The score would stand at 5-0 after scoring for the final time in the 85th minute.
Statistically,
Ebony Clarke led the Owls in shots with two and both were shots on goal. The Owls' other two shots on goal came from
Stella Allen and
Brenna Young.
