KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State came out on the short end of the scoreboard in its Atlantic Sun women's soccer opener on Thursday night, dropping a 2-0 contest to the North Alabama Lions at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Both teams were playing tough defense at the start, as neither squad allowed a shot until the 11th minute, and it wasn't until the 24th minute until the second shot of the night. Unfortunately for the Owls, the shot came from the Lions who scored on a cross field shot from the right side that found just enough room to slip past Owl goalkeeper
Allanah Blye for the 1-0 lead. UNA would take that one-goal advantage into halftime, as KSU was held to just one shot.
The Owls stepped up their offensive attack in the second stanza, getting off a pair of shots in the opening 10 minutes. KSU looked to have a strong scoring chance in the 63rd minute but were whistled for offside. The Lions then took advantage as a long high cross into the box was headed in for the second score of the night for the visitors
KSU finished the second half with an 8-4 edge on shots, but could not get past the Lion goalkeeper. For the night, KSU was outshot 10-9, while both teams finished with two shots each.
Macie Rainwater led the Owls with two shots, while seven more players had one shot each.

The Owls will play their first ASUN road game of the season on Sunday, Sept. 17 with a 2 p.m. contest at Central Arkansas.
