KENNESAW, Ga. – The non-conference season concluded Sunday afternoon for the Owls after a 3-0 decision went to Samford in Birmingham, Ala.
The Owls fall to 1-3-3 on the season after being unbeaten in the previous two matchups while Samford solidified their non-conference resume going 4-1-3.
The go-ball was working early for the Owls, but the Samford defense was able to reign them in the open field.
Samford's Mary Raymond scored five minutes into the game after and handful of pressure from the Bulldogs attack.
Allanah Blye made an outstanding save with 33 minutes in the first half leaping off the strike via the free kick to send the ball out of play.
Tianna Rivera got the first shot on goal for the Owls with a soft liner nearly escaping the keepers grasp with 25 minutes left in the first half but the Bulldogs controlled possession.
Blye earned five saves in the first half which not only marked her highest single half total this year but also tied her season high for an entire game. She would end with six total on the day.
With 35 total minutes left, Samford's Layla Brown was able to squeak one by Blye after the foot race toward the top of the box for the ball to go up 2-0. Taylor Yount was then able to speed her way for a goal to go up three.
At the 22-minute mark, goalkeeper
Charlee Bernall made her first appearance as an Owl. She also vacuumed in her first save of her collegiate career.

The Owls will kickstart the final ASUN season Thursday night versus North Alabama at Fifth-Third Bank Stadium.
