Owls Prep to Face SEC Opponent Florida at Home

KENNESAW, Ga. - The schedule continues to ramp up for the Owls as they face the unbeaten Florida Gators Sunday at 6 p.m. at Fifth-Third Bank Stadium. 

Kennesaw State (1-2-1) comes into the contest in search of a bounce back performance after suffer two losses on the road in the South Alabama Tournament. In the previous matchup versus South Alabama, the Owls gave the Jags a fight after freshman Anabel Orozco tied the match in the 42nd minute. The Jaguars then scored two goals in the final 17 minutes to clinch the victory. 

Series History
It's a short history between these two teams with Florida holding the narrow 1-0 advantage all-time. The lone match was played in 2006 with the Gators winning 3-1 to open their season at Pressly Stadium. 

Scouting The Gators
The Gators have gotten off to a handsome start with a 3-0-1 record after taking down East Carolina (2-0), Maryland (1-0) and ASUN foe Stetson (8-0). The Gators returns six players that recorded 11 or mor starts from last season along with 77% of last years minutes played coming back to Gainesville. Three wins already surpasses last years total for coach Samantha Bohon's team as they went 2-14-1 last season, 0-9-1 in the SEC. 

Blye's Record Goalkeeping
After acquiring the starting gig five games into the season her freshman year, Allanah Blye recorded 93 saves for a 85.3 save % last season. After a little over one year, Blye is the current all-time leader in program history in save % (84.1) and saves per game (5.29). The ASUN All-Freshman team member earned her 100th save of her career versus Presbyterian and started the season with back-to-back clean sheets.

Seniority
Experience has been an attribute that's favored KSU and look no further than defender Camryn Simmons and midfielder Teresa Wowk. Both seniors are leading the team in minutes played (non-goalkeeper) with both players coming off the field for only a combined 37 minutes all season. 

Anabel's Amazing Attack
Orozco made an immediate impact when inserted into the game versus South Alabama with a stellar goal to even the score at that point. She left-footed it in from the right corner of the box off of the post off of the trow-in feed from Naomi Moleka. The last freshman to score for KSU was Brenna Young versus Stetson Oct. 23, 2022. 

Bryan's Brilliance
The sophomore has been a contributor on the attack ever since she step foot on campus. She tapped in the first score of the season versus Presbyterian, already tying her goal total all of last year. Of her two career goals, both have been game winners (Presbyterian, Jacksonville State in '22).

Precise Shooting
Although the Owls have only found the net twice, they have been efficient with their chances. There are four Owls who still maintain a perfect SOG percentage in Addison Neel, Tianna Rivera, Aly Bryan and Madelyn Baucom. As a team, KSU has tallied 13 shots on goal in four matches. 

Next Match
Senior Day takes place Thursday evening as the Owls host I-75 opponent Georgia State at 7 pm.m Sept. 7.
