KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's
Manu Johnsen was named ASUN Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Owls to a 2-1 record in the Montana State Bobcat Blackridge Invite this past weekend, the conference office announced on Monday. Among the victories was a 3-1 win over Oregon State, which marked the Owls' first-ever win over a Pac-12 squad.
Johnsen, a sophomore from Copenhagen, Denmark, currently leads the ASUN in both points (52) and kills (47). In the 3-0 sweep of North Dakota to start the season, she posted 12 kills and seven digs. Johnsen followed that with an impressive .343 hitting percentage (15K-4E-35TA) and added two assists, four digs and three blocks in the win over the OSU Beavers. On the final day of the tournament, Johnsen recorded the fourth 20+ kill match of her career, finishing with 20 to go along with seven digs in a competitive battle with Montana State in a 3-1 setback.
For the weekend, she averaged 4.27 kills and 1.82 digs per set.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are back on the road for a second straight weekend tournament, this time at the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle Invitational. KSU will open play in the four-team event on Friday, Sept. 1 at 2 pm against Cincinnati, followed by an 8:30 pm contest against Tennessee Tech. The weekend will conclude for the Owls with a Saturday, Sept. 2 contest against East Tennessee State at 11:30 am. All three games in the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
