KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State volleyball is known for excellence both on and off the court, and that continued again this past season as the Owls received the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for their performance in the classroom.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year honors collegiate teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
This marks only the fifth time in program history, and the second straight year, the Owls have received the AVCA award, all five coming during Head Coach
Keith Schunzel's tenure (2014, 2015, 2019, 2021).
The team finished the year with an average 3.57 GPA with 10 players earning a 3.0 or better in the spring semester, while four Owls recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. As a team, the Owls have averaged over a 3.0 GPA for 20-straight semesters.
