KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball has officially added a sixth player, the third new member to bring Division I experience with him, as Jusaun Holt has signed to play for the Owls' men's basketball program, KSU head coach Antoine Pettway announced on Tuesday.
Holt was originally recruited by and played for Pettway at Alabama in the 2021-22 season. A 6-7 guard who played his prep career in Roswell, Ga., he transferred to Georgia for his sophomore season in 2022-23, before rejoining Pettway in Kennesaw.
"Jusaun is a kid I've known since I recruited him to Alabama out of high school," said Pettway. "He comes from a really great family. He is also a local product that played at St. Francis for Drew Catlett and for Team Dickerson with Demond Stephens, two highly respected programs and coaches. He has two years of valuable experience playing in the SEC, and will bring size, athleticism, and physicality to the wing position. From coaching him for a year, I know he brings great competitiveness to practices and games. We think Jusaun's best basketball is still ahead of him, and we look forward to him making an immediate impact on our program here at Kennesaw State."
An outstanding defender, Holt started 11 of 31 games at UGA this past season, including eight games in SEC play. He paced the Bulldogs in steals nine times during the season and finished second overall on the team with 31 for the season. He also added 11 blocks while posting 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. He notched a career-high nine points at Auburn and also set career-highs of eight rebounds (vs Florida A&M), five steals (vs South Carolina) and four assists (vs Hampton) while at Georgia. As a freshman for Alabama, Holt appeared in 22 games and posted 15 points with 35 rebounds for the Crimson Tide.
Ranked as the No. 81 (Rivals) player in his class coming out of St. Francis High School, he was a consensus four-star in 2020-21. Holt would lead the Knights to a 100-21 record over four years, including back-to-back Georgia Class A Private state titles in 2019 and 2020. The Georgia Class A Private Player of the Year (
Atlanta Journal Constitution, GHSA), he averaged 21.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals as a senior. For his career, he was a two-time All-State honoree and totaled 1,204 points, 674 rebounds, 257 assists and 143 steals over his four years.
Also joining the Owls for the 2023-24 season after signing in April are: Chase Clemmons, Frankquon Sherman, Marcus Whitlock, Rongie Gordon and Jamel King.
