Rogers Named to ASUN Winners for Life Team

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior Isaiah Rogers was named to the 2023 ASUN Conference Spring Winners for Life Team, the conference announced Thursday.

Rogers rewrote the KSU record book in the weight throw during the indoor track and field season. He opened the season winning the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 24.37m (79'11.5"). That mark ranked No. 1 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the ASUN this season.

The senior won the weight throw at the Doc Hale VT Elite meet with a mark of 23.40m (76'9.25") and finished third in the weight throw at the Music City Challenge. He also placed fifth at the USATF Indoor Championships.

The Smyrna, Ga. native won the gold medal in the weight throw with a toss of 23.14m (75'11") at the ASUN Indoor Championships. That mark established a new conference championship record. He was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.24m (53' 3.5").

His shot put mark of 18.33m (60'1.75") at the Doc Hale VT Meet ranked fourth in the ASUN this season.

Rogers won the weight throw in thrilling fashion on March 11 at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. He captured the victory on his final throw with a toss of 24.23m (79'6"). With the win, Rogers became KSU's second national champion in the Division I era and the second athlete from the ASUN Conference to win an NCAA Championship.

During the outdoor season, he won the hammer throw at the KSU Invitational and Samford's Alabama Track Challenge. 

He finished fifth competing for KSU as the lone collegiate in a field of professionals in the hammer throw at Drake Relays with a mark of 71.39m (234'2").

Rogers won the hammer throw with a mark of 71.90m (235'11") and finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 18.52 (60'9.25") at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. His mark of 71.90m (235'11") ranks second in ASUN Outdoor Championship and seventh in program history.

He qualified for the finals of the hammer throw and shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He would finish 11th in the hammer throw earning Second Team All-America honors and 22nd in the shot put collecting Honorable Mention All-America honors.

Rogers will compete in the hammer throw at the USATF Outdoor Championships on Saturday, July 8th in Eugene, Oregon. 

Rogers has been strong in the classroom as well with a 3.55 GPA as a graduate student in American Studies. He was named to the ASUN Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams.

He also was involved in various community service events.  At Throw 1 Deep Academy, Rodgers participated in weekly volunteering/mentoring opportunities to help underprivileged students learn about throwing. He was also a volunteer worker at Mostly Mutts working to help dogs get adopted.
