KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Shannon Harrington became the third player in school history to earn ASUN Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Year honors, while she was one of four total players that earned season awards from the ASUN as the league office announced their year-end awards on Wednesday.
Bailey Wilson was named to the All-ASUN First Team, giving the Owls a representative on the first team for the fifth straight season. Hannah Davis meanwhile was a second team selection for the first time in her career. Harrington and Lauren Dobbs were both selected to the All-ASUN Freshman Team. In addition, Julia Weiss and Caroline Farley were both selected to the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Harrington, a freshman midfielder from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., led the Owls and is tied for fourth in the ASUN in scoring with 36 goals coming into this week's tournament. The first-year player also led the league and is 15th in the nation in shot percentage at 57.1%. She's added six assists this season for 42 total points, which ties for the team-lead. Harrington also collected one game-winner, which came in the final nine seconds in the regular season finale on April 29, which moved KSU into the fifth seed thanks to the 15-14 win over Lindenwood.
Wilson, graduate student and defender from Acworth, Ga., was one of the best in the nation at the draw position, currently ranking fourth in the NCAA with 9.69 per contest. She was also a second-team midseason All-American selection by Inside Lacrosse, and her 155 draw controls this season is tied for the most in school history.
Davis, a sophomore midfielder from Roswell, Ga., ranked third on the team this season with 25 goals and was second in points with 40. Her 15 assists were also the second-highest on the squad. She scored a career-high tying four goals in a conference win this season over Stetson, which included the game-winner.
Dobbs, a midfielder from Dacula, Ga., started all 16 games this season and was a huge factor for the Owls in the draw circle. The first-year player also paced KSU in both ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (15).
Weiss, a junior goalkeeper from Sykesville, Md., is a two-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week that holds a 3.96 cum GPA while majoring in psychology. Farley meanwhile ranks second for the Owls this season with 28 total goals, while holding a 3.92 cum GPA and is also a psychology major.
