Rogers Hendrick Hussie

Trio of Owls Secure ASUN Outdoor All-Academic Honors

KENNESAW, Ga. –Malik Hussie and Isaiah Rogers were named to the ASUN Outdoor Men's All-Academic Team while Sarah Hendrick was named to the ASUN Women's Outdoor All-Academic Team, the conference announced Wednesday. 

Hussie carries a 3.73 GPA while majoring in management. He was named the ASUN Men's Most Outstanding Performer of ASUN Outdoor Championships. The junior scored 22 points at the ASUN Championships and won the gold medal in the 400m in 46.72 seconds. Hussie notched the third-fastest time in ASUN Championship history to claim his first 400m title. He finished runner-up in the 200m (20.43 seconds), 4x100m (40.59 seconds) and 4x400m (3:11.79). The Newnan, Ga. native finished third in the 200m (21.08 seconds) at the Kennesaw State Invitational and fourth in the 400m at the Bobcat Invitational in 47.39 seconds. He ranks first in the ASUN in the 400m and second in the 200m this season. He is also on the Owls 4x400m relay team that ranks No.1 in the ASUN this season. 

Rogers has a 3.55 GPA as a graduate student in American studies. He won the hammer throw in all three collegiate meets he has competed in so far this season. He finished fifth competing for KSU as the lone collegiate in a field of professionals in the hammer throw at Drake Relays with a mark of 71.39m (234'2").  The Smyrna native won the hammer throw with a mark of 71.90m (235'11") and finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 18.52 (60'9.25") at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. His mark of 71.90m (235'11") ranks second in ASUN Outdoor Championship and seventh in program history. He is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA East Region in the hammer throw and 20th in the shot put. He also ranked eighth in the hammer throw and 48th in the shot put in the NCAA this season. He qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary rounds in hammer throw and shot put.  

Hendrick holds a 3.9 GPA having graduated with a degree in nursing in December. She is currently pursuing a second undergraduate degree in psychology. She finished sixth at the Bryan Clay Invitational in the 800m with a time of 2:01.93. That time ranks No. 3 in school history, No. 1 in the ASUN, No. 5 in the NCAA East Region and No. 8 in the NCAA this season. She ran a personal-best time of 4:15.71 to take 25th at the Bryan Clay Invitational.  That time ranks tops in program history, No. 25 in the NCAA East Region and No. 54 in the NCAA this season. Won the 800m (2:05.78), 1500m (4:18.40) and the 4x400m relay (3:43.54) at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. Her time of 2:05.78 was the second-fastest time in meet history. She also joined Jacksonville's Bienna Freeman (2011-13) as the only three-time event winners in the 800m. Her time of 4:18.40 was No. 2 in ASUN Championship history. She became the third three-time winner of the event. She qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Rounds in the 800m and 1500m.  

Rogers, Hussie and Hendrick are competing for KSU in the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in Jacksonville May 24-27.
