Owls Secure End of Season Sweep over Eastern Kentucky

ROME, Ga - The Kennesaw State men's tennis team wrapped up regular season play with a 7-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky at the Rome Tennis Center on Saturday evening.

The Owls secured the doubles point with a victory on line two and a walkover on line three.

Anthony Weingarten got the single's victories started with a 6-0, 6-0 shellacking of Estebaan Castro Plantoff. Hugo Salmeron clinched the match win for the Owls after his win over Paul-Antoine Brazet. Harvey Conway extended the lead for KSU with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Kristoffer Stahlbrand. Raul Garcia gave Mortiz Mayer a 6-2, 6-1 drubbing. Seru Tezuka would close out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Julappagari Anurag Reddy.

"Today could have been a tricky match, having to go indoors against a talented indoor team, but the guys did a really good job of getting up for it and taking care of business," said Director of Tennis Matt Emery. "I want to thank our seniors for everything they have sacrificed for our program over the years. Among many other accolades, Kevin, Seru, and Kenneth helped lead us to our first ASUN title. Our program would not be where it is today without the investment, buy-in, and resiliency over the years."

The Owls will head into the ASUN Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed. KSU will play No. 12 Austin Peay at Bellarmine on Thursday, April 13th at a time to be announced later. The winner faces No.4 Bellarmine in the ASUN Quarternfinals on Friday, April 14th.
