KSU Clinches Series at Queens With 11-1 Victory

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kennesaw State bounced back with a dominant 11-1 win in seven innings at Queens Sunday afternoon at The Stick Williams Dream Fields. The Owls (19-19, 9-9) showed plenty of patience at the plate Sunday, drawing 13 walks to take the series from the Royals (7-31, 3-15).

Braden Osbolt pitched a seven-inning complete game and allowed just one run in the outing.

Spencer Hanson continued his strong series with another home run and went 2-for-5 at the dish with two RBIs.

Zac Corbin and Brayden Eidson both finished 2-for-5 and had two RBIs each.

Hudson Mimbs went deep for the third straight game and has six homers on the year. Mimbs drew three walks as well.

Nick Hassan went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. Nick Colina ended the day 1-for-2 with three walks and scored three times.

KSU threatened in the first by loading the bases after a leadoff walk from Colina and a pair of errors by the defense.

The Owls broke through in the top of the second with three runs. Wade Richardson and Colina drew back-to-back walks with two outs to start the rally. Hassan singled to right field to bring home Richardson. Eidson followed with an infield single to bring home another run, and an error by the first baseman allowed Hassan to score.

Queens scratched across a run in the bottom of the third to cut the KSU lead to 3-1 through three innings of action.

In the top of the fifth, Mimbs launched a two-run home run to left to push the lead to 5-1.

The Owls broke the game open in the top of the next inning. Corbin drove in two runs with a single to right. After Cole and Mimbs walked, Tyler Franks walked with the bases loaded to extend the score to 8-1.

Colina singled to lead off the seventh and stole second. Eidson delivered his second RBI of the game with a single through the left side of the infield. Hanson stepped up to the plate and smashed his second home run of the series to put the Owls up 11-1.

Osbolt retired the Royals in the bottom of the seventh to get the run-rule win for Kennesaw State.

The Owls continue their road swing with a matchup at Clemson Tuesday at 6 p.m. (ET).
