KENNESAW, Ga. – Alex Peterson is Kennesaw State's representative on the ASUN 2022-23 Winter Winners for Life team, the conference office announced on Friday.

Peterson, a graduate forward from Tappahannock, Va., was the Owls' top player off the bench in the post and helped Kennesaw State to a historic season in 2022-23, following the first ASUN regular season and tournament championship and first-ever NCAA trip in program history. He led the team in field goal percentage for the season at 56.1%, and averaged 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest. He made one of the biggest plays of the season when he scored a huge basket in the final 30 seconds to help KSU take an 82-81 overtime victory at Stetson on Jan. 19.

Peterson also was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team in February. Off the court, he works with MUST Ministries serving meals at the shelter. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology in the summer of 2022 and will complete his graduate certificate program in information technology foundations this spring.

The Winners for Life team is composed of one student-athlete from all 14 institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface. The team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
