Osbolt’s Strong Start Not Enough as KSU Falls to Boston College

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State baseball dropped the series finale to Boston College by a score of 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Stillwell Stadium. The Owls (5-5) aim to get back in the win column this Tuesday with a midweek matchup at in-state foe, Georgia State.

Braden Osbolt got the start on the mound and went six strong innings. The right-hander made his third start and allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts. He earned a no-decision as he exited with the game tied, 1-1.
 
Brayden Eidson put together another good day at the plate and was the only Owl with multiple hits. He finished 2-for-3 and reached base in all three games of the series.
 
Jackson Chirello launched his second home run of the year with a 434 ft. blast to dead-center field. The freshman ended the afternoon 1-for-3 with an RBI.
 
Jamarie Brooks recorded a hit in his second at bat and ended the day 1-for-3. The outfielder has posted a base knock in five of his seven starts on the year.
 
Nick Hassan got a base hit in his final at bat. He reached base in both of his starts this series and ended the day 1-for-4.
 
Osbolt got off to a strong start in the first as he struck out the side on 13 pitches. He gave up a solo home run in the second but settled in and allowed only three hits over the next five innings.
 
Chirello tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. The center fielder sent the first pitch of his at bat deep over the center field fence to bring the game back even.
 
Boston College scored three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 5-1 lead which held as the final.
 
KSU baseball is back in action next Tuesday, Mar. 7 as the team travels to Georgia State for a midweek matchup. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex with Kennesaw State winning six of the last seven in the series.
