Agyei Quinichett entered with two outs and runners on the corners during a one-run game in the top of the eighth. The freshman threw two, quick strikes before getting a fly out to center to escape the jam. Quinichett worked a clean ninth inning to secure his first career save.
The Kennesaw State offense collected six hits and were led by
Wade Richardson and
Nick Colina who each added two knocks.
Richardson collected his third multi-hit performance during his sixth start in the KSU lineup. The second basemen went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. He ended the weekend 4-for-6 at the plate.
Colina was 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and run scored. The outfielder recorded a hit in all three games against EKU and had two multi-hit performances.
Brayden Eidson extended his hitting streak to seven with a base knock in his second at-bat. The junior ended the day 1-for-4 with an RBI.
A two-run homer in the second inning gave the Colonels their first lead of the weekend. KSU answered in the third, when Eidson recorded a two-out RBI on a single to left field. This was the outfielder's ninth hit of the week.
The Owls took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Donovan Cash led off with a double and scored on a single from Colina. Kennesaw State plated two more runs due to multiple EKU errors. Richardson drove in the final run of the inning with a two-out knock to right field. This moved the score to 5-2 in favor of the Owls.
Neither team would score again until EKU added two runs in the top of the eighth. This cut the deficit to 5-4. Quinichett entered and slammed the door in the ninth to give KSU the weekend sweep.
