CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State softball team (8-17, 0-1 ASUN Conference) opened league play Friday with a 3-1 loss to Austin Peay (12-9, 1-0 ASUN) at Cathi Maynard Park.
The bright spot for the Owls in game one of this three-game series was freshman
Stella Henry who went 3-for-4 at the plate.
The Governors scored in the opening frame to take a 1-0 advantage early.
Kennesaw State evened the score two innings later in the top of the third on an RBI groundout from
Brinaya Bailey that plated
Ty Hardeman.
Both defenses stood tall in the fourth and fifth innings, including freshman catcher
Stacey Deputy 's caught stealing for the eighth time – the most of any ASUN player. The out ended the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Austin Peay added two runs to take a 3-1 lead over KSU.

Kenley Hilleary (3-4) pitched all 6.0 innings allowing only three earned runs and three hits.
GAME NOTES
>> Hardeman extended her KSU season-high hitting streak to eight games.
>> Henry recorded her third multi-hit game in the last six contests. Friday marked the first three-hit game of her collegiate career.
