ATLANTA, Ga. – Kennesaw State baseball dropped its first road game of the season to No. 16 Georgia Tech by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium. The loss snaps the Owls (5-2) five-game win streak while the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-0.

Nolan Sliver entered with two outs in the top of the first and tossed 3.1 scoreless innings. The freshman right hander recorded a career-high six punch outs and allowed zero runs on only one hit.

Tanner Franklin and Smith Pinson tossed the final three innings for the KSU bullpen. Franklin threw a scoreless sixth and allowed zero hits with one strikeout. Pinson tossed the final two frames and surrendered zero runs on two hits.

The Kennesaw State offense outhit Georgia Tech 9-7 and had eight players collect a hit. Spencer Hanson led the way and was the only Owl with multi-hits in the contest.

Hanson went deep for the second time this year and finished 2-for-3. The designated hitter ended tonight's contest with two RBIs and extended his hitting streak to 12 games dating back to last season
.
Donovan Cash added a 1-for-4 afternoon in the middle of the Owl lineup. The first baseman lined an RBI single up the middle in his first at bat to increase his streak to seven consecutive games with a run batted in.

Kennesaw State jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the top of the first. Zac Corbin worked a walk in the leadoff spot then advanced to second on a fielder's choice. A failed pickoff attempt advanced him to third before Cash lined a single up the middle to give KSU its first run.

Nick Hassan quickly followed by lacing a double to right-center field that saw Cash dive around a tag attempt from the GT catcher. This was Hassan's third double of the season and moved the Owls' advantage to 2-0.

Georgia Tech evened the score with two runs in the bottom half, but KSU jumped back ahead with a two-run blast from Hanson. With two outs in the third, the Kennesaw State designated hitter lined a home run over the left-field wall to give his team a 4-2 lead.

With two outs in the fifth, the Yellow Jackets hit a three-run bomb to take their first lead of the afternoon. The pitching on both sides held strong as neither team scored in the final four frames.

KSU baseball is back in action this Friday, Mar. 3 as the team welcomes Boston College to Stillwell Stadium for a three-game series. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and will be the third matchup between the two programs and first since 2006. Tickets are available for purchase by clicking here.
