Hendrick and Rogers Secure ASUN Athlete of the Week Awards

KENNESAW, Ga. – Sarah Hendrick and Isaiah Rogers  collected ASUN Athlete of the Week Awards for their performances at the Bruce LeHane Scarlet and White Invitational and the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Meet, the conference announced Wednesday.
 
Hendrick was named the ASUN Women's Track Athlete of the Week.  She won the 800m in a school record time of 2:02.00 in a very strong field at the BU Scarlet and White Elite Meet. Her time is tops in the ASUN and No. 2 in the NCAA this season. She beat runners from Washington, Boston College, Villanova, West Virginia and several professionals. The Kennesaw native ran a leg on the Owls distance medley relay team that posted a time of 11:05.14 to shatter the previous school record by nearly 40 seconds. That time ranks first in the ASUN and No. 16 in NCAA this season. This is her 11th ASUN Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor.
 
Rogers was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the weight throw with a toss of 23.40m (76' 9.25") at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Meet. He won the event by over two meters in a field of throwers from Virginia, Maryland, Cincinnati along with a few professionals. Rogers finished fourth in the shot put with a season-best mark of 18.33m (60'1.75"), a mark that ranks fourth in the ASUN this season. This is his second ASUN Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor.
 
The Owls will head to Nashville for the Music City Challenge on Feb. 10-11 hosted by Vanderbilt.
