TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Kennesaw State softball team (3-10) fell to Southeastern Louisiana (11-2) and Indiana State (5-4) Saturday at Rhoads Field.
The Lions took game one of the doubleheader, 7-1 while the Sycamores earned a 10-1 win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE vs. Southeastern Louisiana (L, 1-7)
Brinaya Bailey scored the game's opening run in the first inning, singling to right field to send
Faith Alexander home and giving KSU a 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second inning for both squads, the Lions plated seven runs in the next three innings to take a 7-1 advantage.
Freshman
Peri Rouillard recorded her first career hit as an Owl with a double in the top of the sixth.
The SELA defense kept the Owl offense scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Starter
Lindsey Kyte (1-4) pitched 3.0 innings and was credited with the loss.
GAME TWO vs. Indiana State (L, 1-10 – five innings)
Stella Henry tallied the second hit of her Owl career in the first inning with an infield single and then earned her second stolen base of 2023.
In the next frame,
Caroline Shumeyko plated her second double of 2023 with two outs on a 3-2 count.
Indiana State took the lead over KSU in the third, scoring nine runs.
Ty Hardeman led off the bottom of the inning with a double, advanced to second after
Faith Alexander reached on an error and finally scored on a groundout RBI from Henry to cut the deficit to 9-1.
The Sycamores added another run in the fifth to earn a 10-1 run-rule victory.
Starter
Laura Bishop (0-2) pitched 2.0 innings and was credited with the loss.

KSU finishes its run in the Bama Bash with a 1:00 p.m. ET first pitch against the No. 11/7 Alabama Crimson Tide Sunday, Feb. 26.
