KENNESAW, Ga. – Coming off a big home win on Saturday, Kennesaw State looks to stay perfect in the Convocation Center this season as the Owls will host Big South power UNC Asheville on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., in what is the first of two games between the two teams this month.
Tuesday is also Military Appreciation Night at Kennesaw State, and all retired and active military will receive free admission, while their family will receive tickets at a group rate.
A FEW NOTES
♦ This will be the first of four games this month against Big South schools for KSU, as the Owls will be on the road at USC Upstate (Dec. 9) and Presbyterian (Dec. 16) before the Owls play their second game against the Bulldogs this month, with a return trip to in Asheville on Dec. 23. KSU has won its last four against teams currently in the Big South.
♦ The Owls have been dominate on their home court over the past two seasons. KSU is currently riding a six-game win streak in the Convocation Center, and are 20-1 in their last 21 home games.
♦ Under first-year head coach
Antoine Pettway, the Owls are playing at the fastest pace in the nation (according to KenPom). In addition, KSU also ranks third in the NCAA in fastbreak points (21.9 ppg), third in three-point attempts per game (31.4 per game), and eighth in offensive rebounds per game (15.5 rpg). Individually,
Demond Robinson is seventh in the nation in offensive rebounds per contest at 4.25 rpg.
♦ For the first time in school history, the Owls enter the season with a target on their backs, coming off the first-ever winning season in the school's Division I history. KSU finished off 2022-23 with a 26-9 overall mark, shattering the previous record for most wins in a season by 12 (14). The Owls also won the first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference regular season and tournament titles in school history, while reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level as well.
