Owls Claim Fifth Straight Win in 91-59 Victory over Brescia

KENNESAW, Ga.  – Simeon Cottle led four Owls in double-figures, while Kennesaw State used two big first half runs to blow open the game on the way to their fifth straight win, 91-59 over Brescia on Tuesday night in the Convocation Center. The Owls increased their school record start to 9-3, and have won their past eight at home after the 32-point victory.
 
STAT OF THE GAME: The Owls hit a season-high tying 14 three-pointers, as they went 14-of-38 (36.8%) from behind the arc. Quincy Ademokoya led the way with four makes (4-of-8), while Jamel King and Cottle both added three each. Brescia meanwhile was limited to just 2-of-14 (14.3%) from three-point range.
 
ROCK SOLID PLAYER OF THE GAME: Freshman RJ Johnson turned in another strong outing for the Owls, as he was came off the bench with 13 points while also adding six assists and three rebounds.
 
THE FIRST HALF: The Bearcats scored the first basket of the game for a 2-0 advantage. The Owls did not score until the 17-minute mark, and then took its first lead on a layup from Demond Robinson at 4-2. However, following the under-16 media timeout, the Owls would reel off 15 more unanswered points, for an overall 17-0 run and a 17-2 lead. Brescia countered back, closing within 10 several times, including off a three-point play to make it 22-12 going into the final eight minutes. The Owls then exploded on a 20-5 run over a 3:58 span. Ademkoya's layup would put the Owls ahead 42-17, and the lead was 28 at halftime (50-22).
 
THE SECOND HALF: Any hope of a comeback for the Bearcats was quickly shutdown, as the Owls used a 17-6 run in the first five minutes to grab their largest lead of the game at 39 points (67-28).
 
NOTES 
-Cottle's 17 points paced the Owls, while Ademokoya was next with 16. King and Johnson both poured in 13 as well.
-In limited action, Robinson recorded eight points and eight rebounds, while Terrell Burden notched six assists and five rebounds in 13 minutes of play.
-Making his first action as an Owl was two-time transfer Jusaun Holt. The junior guard played 24 minutes and scored four points while grabbing six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
  
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will be on the road when they make the return trip to Asheville, N.C., to face UNC Asheville on Saturday in a 2 p.m. contest. The two teams met earlier this season in Kennesaw, an overtime thriller won by the Owls in the final seconds 79-76.
