KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State forward
Frankquon Sherman was named Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week after leading the Owls to a pair of wins, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. Sherman is the first Owl to earn Newcomer honors from the ASUN in eight years, since Kendrick Ray was honored four times during the 2015-16 season.
Sherman, a 6-0 freshman from Lincolton, Ga., averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and shot 66.7% (12-of-18) from the floor and 88.9% (8-of-9) at the free throw line in KSU's 99-55 win over Kesier and 96-92 win over Georgia Southern.
In the win over Kesier, Sherman picked up his second double-double of the year with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Against Georgia Southern on Sunday, he scored 14 first half points to stake the Owls to a halftime advantage and finished with a career and game-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting and a perfect 5-of-5 at the line.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls continue play in the Holiday Classic on Monday with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Northeastern in a game streamed live on ESPN+.
