JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A shorthanded Kennesaw State volleyball squad dropped its second straight match on Friday night, as the Owls fell on the road 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) at North Florida at the UNF Arena.
STAT OF THE GAME: The Ospreys finished with a .333 hitting percentage (42K-13E-87TA) while KSU finished the night at .153 (32K-17E-98TA).
THE RUNDOWN – UNF led the majority of the first set, and after KSU closed within 18-16, the Ospreys scored five straight on the way to the seven-point victory. KSU held a 4-3 lead in set two before UNF reeled off seven unanswered on the way to the win and a 2-0 lead. The Owls came out strong in set three, going up 10-6 to force a UNR timeout. The lead grew as high as 13-7 before the Ospreys made another run, as they scored nine of the next 10 points to go up 16-14. Down 24-21, the Owls held off two match points but couldn't find a tying point, as the Ospreys held on for the win.
NOTES
-This was just the third game all season the Owls were swept 3-0.
-Maggie Butkovich paced the Owls with eight kills, while Manu Johnsen and Emma Schurfranz both posted seven each. Kourtney Brown notched 23 assists in her first career start.  
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are back in action on Saturday night with a 5 p.m. contest at Jacksonville in Swisher Gymnasium.
