PLAYERS TO WATCH

Sophomore outside hitter Manu Johnsen, 2022 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and a preseason All-ASUN selection this season, ranks second in the conference in kills with a team-high 3.74 per set and leads the league in points per set with 4.32. Senior defensive specialist Shelby Dennis is currently seventh in the ASUN with 4.13 digs per set, while a pair of Owls rank in the top 10 in blocks, as freshman Olivia Burrage is third (1.06 bps) and senior Claire Parsons is eighth (0.91 bps). Also shining in 2023 is super senior Emma Schurfranz, who is fifth in kills (3.14 kps), and third in points (3.87 ppg).

SCOUTING THE BISON...

Currently, Lipscomb is putting together a very impressive season. In conference play they are 7-1, with the only loss coming from the top-ranked ASUN team, FGCU. Despite the loss, Lipscomb was able to push that match to five sets. Offensively, the Bison's success has been a team effort. Lipscomb has four players who are averaging more than two kills per set. Another standout player for the Bison is senior setter Delaney Smith, who posts 0.52 assists per set, second best in the ASUN and 19th nationally.

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS...

Austin Peay's season has been filled with multiple ups and downs, as the Governors began the season 7-6 prior to conference play, including a five-game win streak. Yet, in conference play the Governors have a record of 2-6, with the last win a 3-2 victory at home over Jacksonville on Sept. 30. Leading the team this season is Mikayla Powell, with a 3.8 kills per set average. Elizabeth Wheat meanwhile is next with 135 total kills, and a 2.05 kps average. Kelsey Mead is the leading setter with 7.84 assists per set, and Anna Rita is adding 0.95 blocks per set.
