Johnsen, Brown Pick Up ASUN Weekly Honors

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State was rewarded for a big week on the volleyball court, as coming off a 3-0 sweep in conference play, a pair of Owls picked up Atlantic Sun weekly honors, the league office announced on Tuesday. Manu Johnsen was named ASUN Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Kourtney Brown picked up her first career ASUN Setter of the Week recognition.  

Johnsen, a sophomore outside hitter from Copenhagen, Denmark, averaged 20 kills a match in the ASUN victories over Queens, North Alabama and Central Arkansas. Against Queens, she set a new school record for most kills in a three-set match with 22, and also added 20 in the win over UNA, and 18 against Central Arkansas. She also set a new career-high with five service aces against UNA. For the week, she averaged 6.0 kills, 2.5 digs and 7.0 points per set while holding a .390 hitting percentage.
 
Brown, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., won her first two games as a starting setter, averaging an impressive 11.43 assists per set in a 3-1 win over North Alabama (Oct. 13) and a 3-0 sweep of Central Arkansas on Oct. 15. She also posted 3.57 digs per set and finished with six kills on 11 total attempts.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls take their win streak on the road for a pair of games in the Volunteer State. First up will be a Friday contest against Lipscomb in Nashville at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday match against Austin Peay at 5 p.m. in Clarksville.
