KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball hopes to bounce back from Thursday night's tough road loss as the Owls will face Queens (NC) for the first time in program history on Saturday night in Charlotte. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Royals are in their first year both in Division I and the ASUN, and are one of the league's surprises after winning 12 of their first 16 contests.
♦ Both teams are coming in off road games on Thursday night, as Queens won a tough one-point contest at Bellarmine. KSU meanwhile played in a high scoring affair in Jacksonville, falling in a heartbreaker on a 30-foot three-point shot from North Florida that beat the buzzer in an 89-86 loss.
♦ The Owls have been successful this season when away from their home court with a 3-5 road mark. The Royals are a perfect 5-0 at home, but their two games against Division I competition have come down to the very end, an 83-82 win over Marshal in the season opener and an 81-77 victory over Austin Peay.
♦ While KSU showed its defensive strength in the first two games of the conference season, holding Central Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky both under 40% shooting, the Owls also have the ability to score at a high rate. Though the first three league games, KSU ranks first in ASUN games only in scoring with 82.3 points per game, more than two full points ahead of Liberty.
♦ The latest milestone the Owls have set this season is having their first winning record in the month of January (Division I history) since 2005-06, when KSU won seven straight to stand at 9-8.
